The Legend Of Zelda : Breath Of The Wild – Guide des équipements

Like most of its predecessors, Breath Of The Wild offers a great number of outfits that can be obtained in various ways during our adventures.

The outfits, kézako?

In this opus, the outfits are numerous, but an important modification has appeared. Indeed, the outfits that Link can wear are divided into three categories :

  • Head
  • Torso
  • Leg

Thanks to this, it is therefore possible to wear parts of different outfits. But in addition to providing additional defense to Link, the outfits offer additional effects, just like what we can already have with the kitchen. Each outfit brings a different effect (or brings none.: D) and so, by the fact that the outfits are now in three categories, it is possible to mix styles and have several effects at the same time . So you can wear, for example:

  • Barbarian Mask - increases attack
  • Zora Armor - increases swimming speed and allows you to climb stunts
  • Climbing shoes - increases climbing speed

Despite everything, even if this brand new possibility is very interesting, there is still one important thing to know: if you wear a full set, you will get an "outfit bonus" adding a very powerful effect, specific to the outfit in question. This can be, for example, increased speed, stamina, full element immunity, increased damage, ability range, etc.

In short, you will have to choose your equipment with great care and above all, adapt it according to the situation!

Improved outfits

In Breath Of The Wild, it is possible to improve your outfits in order to, mainly, increase the defense. To do this, you will first need to discover the Great Fairies, of which you can find our guide for more information on these and the places where they are. Once you've discovered these fairies, all you have to do is talk to them to improve the outfits you want.

Outfits can be upgraded up to 4 star rank, each level requires different items and in a specific quantity. In addition, very important thing to know, it will be necessary to have improved all parts of an outfit at least up to the 2 star rank to trigger the "Outfit bonus".

Dye your outfits

Most outfits can be dyed fairly early in the game. There are a total of 15 different dyes. All you have to do is go to the Village of Elimith and chat with the town dyer. He will suggest that you dye your clothes against:

  • 20 gils
  • Various components / ingredients.

The components or ingredients requested will depend on the tincture you have selected, it can be ores, monster pieces or flowers. You will need 5 components / ingredients to be able to color the equipment.

If you want to find the base color of your gear, all you have to do is talk to the dyer and let them know that you want to remove the dye.

Effects and statistics

The primary function of outfits is to provide Link with additional defense, thereby reducing the damage he takes. This is calculated as a “defensive value”. The higher this value, the less damage Link will take. Each piece of equipment has a different defensive value in addition to that of the other pieces of outfit equipped.

As previously said, outfits can provide additional effects, which are characterized by a little icon when you equip it (see photo below).

Outfits

Now let's get to the heart of the matter! As already said many times, the outfits are divided into three categories, but there are also pieces of special, unique, etc. outfits. The means of obtaining outfits are also very varied, it can be quite simply by buying it from a vendor, or by completing a side quest, in a chest, a sanctuary or even via amiibo.

For the defense, I indicate the latter as follows:

  • Basic defense - equipment defense 1 star - 2 stars - 3 stars - 4 stars.

This corresponds to the defense for one piece. In the case of a complete outfit, each piece has the same defense and evolution value. You just have to add the value corresponding to the level of each piece to know the total defense.

One of a kind pieces

You can only have one and only one of these pieces of equipment in your inventory.
