Crimesight – Sherlock contre Moriarty

In the big names of the moment, we find punchy games, we find epic, we really find everything. Today, I decided to give you a closer look at a game that had been catching my eye for some time. Here is Crimesight, a face to face between investigators and criminals with the stake: a life.

History

In the future, an AI called Sherlock is able to stem the majority of crimes by stopping them before they have even taken place. But, in the shadows, other AIs reveal themselves and become the main competitors to create a world according to their ideals. This is how the duel between Sherlock and Moriarty, legendary enemies, resumes even more... without counting on Irene, the third AI who will come to spoil the party.

But unfortunately, we will have to stop at these few explanations for the story. In the end, we will end up with a game without history, without common thread, with a victory of one or the other AI.

Graphics & atmosphere

In terms of design, I fell in love with Moriarty's class and the endings, which show charismatic characters. We remain however in the basic on all that is decorations and "incidents". In terms of atmosphere, music, etc... the package has been put in place to immerse us in the investigation which will push us into paranoia or a sadistic puppeteer's game! Concretely, it does the job so that everyone can find their account.

Gameplay

The course of a game takes place over three days, consisting of three rounds. Several people in a residence are blocked by the weather. Inside, an assassin, a target, and innocent people who are stuck with them. Sherlock can control one person per turn per investigator, Moriarty two. Irène, less powerful than the latter, will be able to help him, but will not be able to "assassinate".

The goal is for the assassin to meet the victory conditions to take down his target or for the investigators to hinder him by guessing his designs from Sherlock's deductions each night or from suspicious behavior. Of course, this is more complicated than it seems, because, depending on the players, it can go from childish simplicity to an unnamed nightmare... because moving the characters without anyone noticing realize, not betraying yourself and getting closer to your goal is complicated for the assassin, but having to act to protect a target you don't know, from a person you don't know either.. .a real game of deduction.

  • For the conditions of a murder:
    • have a weapon
    • Being alone in the area with his victim
    • No witnesses in the room, in the field of vision, or in the area if the mansion is in total darkness.

Moreover, weapons are not what is missing... but food, healing and other means of defense are much rarer. Because if you do not eat in the evening, you will have less strength the next day and will therefore have to rely on limited movement. Just as if you are injured, attacked by dogs, caught in a gas leak... you will have to face tense situations under the eye of an assassin and your suspicious colleagues. The game is over if the kill is completed or if time is up and reinforcements have arrived.

Summary

Crimesight is one of those games that you play a few sessions here and there to relax or stimulate your brain, but which are sorely lacking a common thread to push us to play it again with a campaign for an outcome between the two AIs for example. I really like this investigation side, but I find that the repetition of the games is a bit boring, even if the difficulty can be increased by reducing the number of allies you have. Do I recommend it? If the negative points mentioned above do not bother you, then go for it!
