FFXIV - Divinities

When creating your character, you will be asked to choose from twelve deities. These deities shaped and ruled the world of Eorzea until the arrival of the first nomadic tribes. Each deity has since been represented in the Eorzean calendar.

  1. astral moon era: Azeyma, the Guardian.
  2. th Umbral Moon: Nophica, the Mother.
  3. astral moon: Thaliak, the Scholar.
  4. th Umbral Moon: Llymlaen, the Navigator.
  5. astral moon: Halone, the Conqueror.
  6. th umbral moon: Byregot, the Craftsman.
  7. th astral moon: Nald'Thal, the Merchants.
  8. th Umbral Moon: Althyk, the Contemplator.
  9. th astral moon: Nymeia, the Spinner.
  10. th Umbral Moon: Oschon, the Wanderer.
  11. th astral moon: Menphina, the Beloved.
  12. th Umbral Moon: Rhalgr, the Destroyer.

Each deity has its own story and grants you resistance bonuses:



Azeyma, the Guardian

Goddess of the sun and of justice, Azeyma is the holder of divine fire. The first month of the year is his. She is the daughter of Althyk the Contemplator and the older sister of Menphina the Beloved in Eorzean mythology. She is often represented as a majestic woman holding a solid gold fan in her hand. Its symbol is the sun.

Nophica, the Mother

Goddess of land and cultures, personifying spring revival, mastering the power of the earth, Nophica is the protector of the Forest City of Gridania. The second month of the year is devoted to him. She is the daughter of Azeyma the keeper and younger sister of Lylmlaen the Navigator in Eorzean mythology. She is often portrayed as a cheerful peasant woman carrying a steel scythe. Its symbol is that of a green tree.

Thaliak, the Scholar

God of rivers and knowledge, he is the protector of the city of Sharlayan. He draws his divine power from water. The third month is devoted to him. He is the father of Llymlaen the navigator and the master of Byregot the Craftsman in Eorzean mythology. He is usually depicted in the form of a scholar leaning on an ash staff, and his symbol is a scroll of parchment.

Llymlaen, the Navigator

Goddess of the sea and navigation, mistress of the wind, she is the protector of the maritime city of Limsa Lominsa. The fourth month of the year is his. She is the daughter of Thaliak the Scholar and the older sister of Nophica the Mother in Eorzean Mythology. She is often depicted as a sturdy fisherwoman holding a gigantic harpoon in her hand. It is symbolized by a breaking wave.


Halone, the Conqueror

Goddess of war, mistress of ice, she is the protector of the mountain city of Ishgard. The fifth month of the year is dedicated to him. She is the daughter of Rhalgar, the destroyer and sworn enemy of Nophica the Mother in Eorzean mythology. She is often depicted as a proud warrior carrying a huge bronze shield. Its symbol is a spear.

Byregot, the Craftsman

God of architecture and craftsmanship and holder of the power of lightning. The sixth month of the year is dedicated to him. He is the disciple of Thalik the Scholar and the older brother of Halone the Conqueror. He is commonly depicted as an honest blacksmith wielding a hammer. It is symbolized by a hand.

Nald'Thal, the Merchant

Gods of the underworld and of commerce, mastering the power of fire, the twins Nald and Thal are the patron gods of the merchant city of Ul'dah. The seventh month of the year is dedicated to them. According to Eorzean mythology, they share the same body while having two separate faces. They are represented as a subtle merchant holding a scale in his hand. Their symbol is a seashell serving as a currency.


Althyk, the Contemplator

God of gravity and time, overpowering the earth, the eighth month of the year is consecrated to him. He is the older brother of Nymeia the Spinner and the father of Azeyma the Guardian and Menphina the Beloved in Eorzean mythology. he is usually depicted as a stern king carrying an imposing mithril ax. It is symbolized by an hourglass.

Nymeia, the Spinner

Goddess of planets and fate, mastering the power of water, the ninth month of the year is dedicated to her. She is the younger sister of Althyk the Contemplator and the mistress of Rhalgr the Destroyer in Eorzean mythology. She is often depicted as a shrewd spinner wearing a white silk veil. It is symbolized by a spinning wheel.

Oschon, the Vagabond

God of the mountains and of travel, master of the wind, the tenth month of the year is consecrated to him. He is the brother-in-law of Nald and Thal the merchants and the best friend of Halone the Conqueror in Eorzean Mythology. It is generally represented in the form of a hunter armed with a yew bow. It is symbolized by a walking stick.

Menphina, the Beloved

Goddess of moons and love, mistress of ice, the eleventh month of the year is dedicated to her. She is the younger half-sister of Azeyma the Guardian and the lover of Oshon the Wanderer in Eorzean mythology. She is commonly depicted as a lively maid holding a frying pan in her hand. It is symbolized by a moon.

Rhalgr, the Destroyer

God of stars and destruction, master of lightning, he is the protector of the city of Ala Mhigo. The twelfth month of the year is dedicated to him. He is the servant of Nymeia the Spinner, the father of Byregot the Craftsman and Halone the Conqueror in Eorzean mythology. He is often depicted as a quick-witted sorcerer carrying a brass staff in his hand. It is symbolized by a comet.
