FFXIV - The 58th Letter from the Producer

57th Letter from the Producer

Hello everyone. This is Naoki Yoshida, producer and director of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. Today, August 27, 2014, marks the first anniversary of the launch of the official service. It is thanks to all of you around the world that we can celebrate this unique moment in the life of the game.
The past year has been rich in events, and it is above all your encouragement, your feedback and the fact that many of you are playing that have motivated the members of the development and management teams to give the best of them- same. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all of you!

Realizing from the start that things added in the first year of an MMORPG's release were vital, the development team and I have focused on updates so far. Of course, I have no doubt that our ideas weren't always unanimous, but time has flown at frightening speed, and everyone here still can hardly believe that it's been a year since the game was launched. online.

Likewise, the management and marketing teams have given themselves heart and soul to set up promotional campaigns, organize events to allow players to meet the creators of the game and prepare for the next Fan Festival. For that, I had to travel all over Japan, and even around the world, completely tuning my rhythm of life to FINAL FANTASY XIV.

At the official launch, there were so many of you, exceeding our most optimistic forecasts, that the servers weren't enough, which forced us to implement character creation and login restrictions, and even had us forced to temporarily stop the sale of the downloadable version. Even now, we do not forget the inconvenience we caused you.

The server team as well as the Square Enix network infrastructure team had by then cooperated and worked very hard, and when they finally managed to provide you with a stable gaming environment in the second half of In September, the delay these issues caused for Update 2.1 forced the dev team to work on an even tighter schedule than before the game was released.

It was not until patch 2.15 that our pace of development stabilized, and we then organized our work to insert minor updates between the main ones and adjusted our projects to bring you new ones. content regularly.

With the patches 2.2 and 2.3, we focused on elements like the weapons of the zodiac, the mirage prisms or the Front which define the peculiarities of FFXIV ... and without our noticing it, we are already at the first anniversary of the Game.

But don't think FFXIV stops there. Oh no! Update 2.4 will see the addition of a new class and a new job, and we will also be working on the development of a titanic expansion, 3.0. All this to tell you that the entire team intends to continue its efforts and offer you even more thrilling and unforgettable adventures in Eorzea!

I'm going to ramble on, but you are the very source of the energy that drives development and management teams in their work. Personally, whether on the forums or through the events where I have had the opportunity to speak with many "Warriors of the Light", and even if it was only a few moments, the contacts that I have had with each of you have given me incredible energy. Besides, I hope to have the opportunity to chat with everyone I haven't met yet.

We are therefore celebrating the first anniversary of the official launch, but believe me, we are only in the middle of the festivities of this year 2014, placed under the sign of FFXIV!
In September, there will be the Tokyo Game Show, followed in October by the start of the Fan Festival: a series of events that I was keen to organize. For three months, I will have the chance to meet players from all over the world, and you can't imagine how I can't wait to be there. The staff responsible for setting up this Fan Festival are also in the process of settling the last details in order to make these events a real success.

I cannot express all the gratitude we have for all of you, and besides, I urge you to read the comments that the other team members have written on the First Anniversary site.

Finally, I would like to say a big thank you to all the Legacy players who have supported us continuously for the four years since the release of FFXIV v1.0. I wish I could express it better, but without your encouragement all along, we probably never would have been able to bring the game back out and celebrate this first anniversary today. I hope you will continue to proudly live this great adventure with us and all the other FFXIV players.

There are still plenty of surprises waiting for you. Being a Warrior of Light myself, I can't wait to join you in Eorzea, at events or even at the Fan Festival!
