This week we take up the history of the exiles through a new faction that makes up this alliance. After the story of Durek Stonebreaker and his brave warriors a fortnight ago, this week we discover the story of Serrick Brightland and his supporters. Good news for Anglophobes, the article is already available in spanish.
Here is a small summary of the story that I encourage you to go and discover in full:
Serrick Brightland is a decorated former Admiral of the Dominion Fleet from the planet Cassus, heart of the Dominion Empire.
As he neared retirement Serrick Brightland rebelled against his hierarchy and took up arms when the Dominion's powers in their will to control the people enacted laws that led to a civil war on the planet Cassus.
Having requisitioned the Star of Dominus, a mighty vessel from his ship, Brightland launched a reckless attack destroying many warships and shook the Dominion fleet ...
Following this first raid, the rebels won several victories which reinforced Brightland on the merits of his enterprise. He formed a government-in-exile made up of civilians and military rulers in an effort to regain control of their home planet.
Unfortunately, Serrick Brightland's forces soon found themselves isolated, unable to resupply or retreat. When the Dominion Fleet caught up with them, Brightland realized he had no choice but to flee in order to survive and continue the fight.
In the last skirmish Brightland in a suicidal maneuver allowed the last rebel ships to escape. Fortunately the old warship survived the skirmish and managed to escape in turn.
The Star of Dominus found the rest of its fleet, but the admiral's life hung by a thread. Serrick Brightland was then cryogenized in the hope that science could one day save him. In his honor, his ship was renamed the Gambler's Ruin and transformed into an arch, the new home for the exiles of Cassus.
We will probably meet Serrick Brightland still cryogenized during our peregrination on Nexus.
