Blade & Soul - Blossoming of the Black Rose

While waiting to be able to enjoy the new expansion on June 1, the official Blade & Soul website has published a summary retracing the life of Jinsoyun, our lifelong nemesis.

Blade & Soul - Blossoming of the Black Rose

Obviously, the following contains spoilers. Here is the article in question:

Spoilers

Decades before that fateful date, Jinsoyun was just a young child living in the Highlands; not by choice, but as a slave to a wealthy family in the royal city. She was among the many victims when the portal to the Dark Realm opened. The pride of Prince Sogun had precipitated the fall of the Highlands and their people. Poisoned by impure Qi and injured during the onslaught of demons, she would have lost her life without the intervention of the Four Guardians. Among them, her sister Yun Jiwan offered the young Jinsoyun infinite mercy by sharing her divine Qi, to help her push back the darkness that threatened to consume her. Despite the disagreement of the other three Guardians, Jiwan did not intend to let another innocent girl die. She took Jinsoyun as a student and treated her like her daughter, to train her to one day overcome the impure Qi that still stained her soul.

It is not known what happened in the following years, but rumors circulating around the kingdom claim that Jinsoyun ended up betraying Jiwan. She rebelled against her benefactor and stole the Twilight Blade, her sacred weapon. Still according to the rumor, the Four Guardians fell one after the other in front of a Jinsoyun consumed by darkness: Jiwan first, betrayed by the one she had treated as her own blood; then Mushin and Iksanun, both struck by devastating assaults that nearly carried them off. Jinsoyun's destructive madness would have signed their demise if Master Hong had not succeeded in defeating the treacherous student. Alas, the damage was done: Jiwan was dead. Each of the other Guardians retreated into seclusion, shaken by wounds and grief.

However, death did not have the last word on Jinsoyun. The impure Qi which encircled him the soul invoked the Kingdom of darkness from which he emanated ... and received an answer. A terrifying voice reached him. In exchange for her bondage, she promised him many things. Life. The power.

Revenge.

As the three surviving Guardians retreated from the secular world, Jinsoyun came back to life more dreadful than ever. She had no trouble making a name for herself in a then fledgling Storm Empire, establishing herself as the providential ally of the council of war. Thanks to her strange dark powers and her martial techniques that one would think invincible, Jinsoyun single-handedly deflects the war in favor of the Empire of the Storm and inscribes her name in history; or rather her names, since she was called in many ways: the Lady of the Black Rose, the black emissary, the lady in black ... Seeing in her a renowned hero, the staff of the Storm gave him considerable authority, which Jinsoyun used to kick off his long plan of revenge, ordering the construction of a divine altar. In the meantime, she was determined to hunt down the surviving Guardians to finish them off once and for all.

Master Hong was the first to succumb to Jinsoyun's machinations. Flanked by his treacherous henchmen Gubong and Yura as well as Lusung, traitor to Hongmoon, Jinsoyun decimated the entire clan with the sole aim of retrieving the Twilight Blade, which Master Hong had kept for all these years. From then on, her revenge knew no bounds: the black emissary crushed everything in her path by manipulating the Empire of the Storm to serve her better. The last surviving student of the Hongmoon clan could only come after him, with the energy of despair and the firm resolve to put an end to his evil plans. But no one seemed to be able to stop it. Master Iksanun fell victim to Jinsoyun's schemes. Namsoyoo, who turned out to be the Storm Emperor's heiress, was kidnapped and kidnapped. The Sky Haven Resistance, a meager rebel faction bent on wresting power from Jinsoyun, was only wiped out. Yunwa, holder of the Legacy of Mushin, ends up in the clutches of Jinsoyun. Hongmoon's final pupil, who finally seemed to be a match for Jinsoyun, had to bow to his blade, his attacks, his disdain.

Today, the world is on the brink of collapse. The Altar of Divine Will is completed. Namsoyoo remains captive in anticipation of a foul ritual that requires royal blood. Jinsoyun is poised to replicate the tragedy that nearly cost him his life so many years ago, by opening wide the Portal of Darkness to wipe out all life. It is only justice for this world that raised her as a slave, this idolatrous world of the Four Guardians that she hated so much, this world devoured by greed and war.

The time has come for Jinsoyun to take revenge.

This article clears things up a bit for those who have completed the most recent story-related content. It allows to better understand the famous "Lady in black", her past, her motivations.

After reading, I nevertheless keep a certain reserve with regard to elements which are not quoted and which slightly orient the story. This omission bothers me because they did not go all the way to the spoiler, if I may say so. So this summary sounds more like an official version that doesn't tell the whole story, whereas players familiar with the story wouldn't be surprised to read what is being glossed over. I imagine it's all about "protecting" the curious and not spoiling their gaming experience.

Of course, this is from a personal point of view and I will not develop my feelings further so as not to spoil it.
