SWTOR - The Ravagers: Torque (Hard Mode)

Once you've defeated Bulo and his pirate clique, you'll be able to infiltrate the Ravager ship. Your way of infiltration goes through the engine room which is guarded by your next opponent: Torque

SWTOR - The Ravagers: Torque (Hard Mode)

Description of the fight

The fight against Torque is more complex than in Story mode. The basic principle, which is to repair the consoles that the wookie will destroy, remains the same but to slow you down, you will also have the right to various droids, turrets or probes that will be placed in your path.

  • Torque health point: 4 PV
  • Laser Shot health points: 60135 PV
  • Health points of Incendiary Devices: 60135 PV
  • Anti-hacking device life points: 27 805 PV
  • Fight time before enrage: 5 minutes and 40 seconds

Combat abilities

Torque is a specialist in pyrotechnics and droid engineering. Here are the combat abilities of the different units you will encounter.

  • Torque
  • Enemy droids
  • Beneficial droids

Self-attack: Basic attack, deals minimal kinetic damage.

Rage Wookie: Channeled spell that deals minimal kinetic damage. First occurrence at 45 seconds then every 45 seconds. Throws players away from Torque (an immunity to movement effects will make you immune to this spell).

SWTOR - The Ravagers: Torque (Hard Mode) Concentration: Torque focuses on a player and detects their weak spots. If Torque deals damage to the player who has the corresponding debuff then this damage is significantly increased. Kinetic damage.

Floor ventilation: Summon several circles of flame on the ground. Instant ability that deals a lot of elemental damage in the corresponding effect areas. Get out of it as quickly as possible.

Laser shot: The droid of the same name has a unique ability which is to shoot players with a laser. It prioritizes repair droids if there is one on the map. Kinetic damage. The shot deals damage to the first person hit (you can come between the laser shot and the repair droid to protect it).

Incendiary devices: Probe that arrives regularly and deals elemental area damage around it.

Anti-hacking device: summons two turrets on the sides of each console. These turrets target the person closest to them and deal minimal damage to them.

The repair droids are a bit special. They have an ability to repair broken consoles. You must summon them yourself and they must not be killed under any circumstances. Each droid repairs a single console and dies at the end of its cast.

Course of the fight

The combat takes place normally with a group made up of 2 tanks, 2 healers and 4 DPS. With this composition, the two tanks must take care of Torque and change their place when the one who has the boss takes the debuff of Concentration.

The Tgo laser are very dangerous, so they should be killed as quickly as possible but do not have much health. It is therefore possible to assign only 2 or 3 DPS to type them in priority. Additionally, this unit's fire only hits the first target it encounters, not the one it actually has targeting. You can therefore intervene between him and a member of your group to take the damage for him, or even more useful between him and the repair droids in order to protect them.

The incendiary devices aren't really bothersome except that they hurt and are able to kill Repair Droids. They will always appear under Torque's feet which will therefore have to be moved. 1 or 2 DPS can be assigned to destroy them but if they are in corners where they do not bother anyone (like the back of the room, near the exit sign) then you can leave them there. On the other hand, if they are in the path of a repair droid, then they should be designated as a priority target of 2 DPS, preferably ranged.

The repair droids should be summoned as soon as possible after a laser shot so that they are less likely to be killed by the next one. This is the role of the healers for the first two and then of the DPS for the following ones so that everyone is free during the phases where they will be particularly effective. Each invocation poses a debuff on the player which will prevent him from invoking a second for a certain period of time (~ 2 min). You will therefore have to alternate this role depending on who has the debuff or not. A rotation of 4 people is enough if all the droids fix their console well. You will find the Summoning Consoles in these locations:

The anti-tampering devices are summoned in waves of 8 turrets. 2 DPS will need to be assigned to destroy them as fast as possible, however, they are not top priority. Prefer to kill the Laser shot or a Incendiary device embarrassing. These turrets have a very special targeting mechanism: they shoot the person closest to them, including repair droids, even if they don't damage them.

In the absence of their assigned secondary targets, DPS will have to focus on the boss. During this time, your healers will have to play their part and make sure that you can do yours. Two debuffs like this will regularly land on members of your party:

SWTOR - The Ravagers: Torque (Hard Mode)They have a dissipable incapacitating effect and have the particularity of being a very dangerous DOT. If you don't dispel it as quickly as possible, you'll see your party members' hit points melt away like snow in the summer. This debuff, in an emergency, can be dispelled with powers that purge crippling effects, otherwise known as "destun" or "anti-stun".

Additional tips

The above strategy is the easiest to implement. However, it requires a good amount of DPS per person to be easily applicable. If you're fair and Torque is enrage at less than 10% health, you might consider focusing on him between 30 seconds and 1 minute before the enrage.

If that's still not enough, it's possible to drop Torque with just one tank. His role is then slightly different as he has to run and dodge all of Torque's attacks while he is undergoing the Concentration Debuff. The fifth DPS can then be assigned to focus bosses and the other four to maintain their respective roles.

Known Bugs

Repair droids behave weird sometimes. You might see them start fixing a member of your party, stop moving and do nothing. For all unusual situations, ie the droid is not going to fix his console for whatever reason, the best thing to do is to send another one.
