SWTOR - 5.2 - Changes on Tiers 1 to 3

    SWTOR - 5.2 - Changes on Tiers 1 to 3

Here is the third point to be addressed on the posts of the official forum which reveal part of the content that will be deployed with 5.2. After dealing with the appearance of the new Tier 4 equipment and the changes in the operation rewards, here are the changes made to the old Tiers (from 1 to 3)

    Hello everybody,

Coming with Patch 5.2, we're making some significant changes to the way Command Crates work, especially gear pickup rates. The most repeated criticism of the command system is its randomness implying a feeling of not being rewarded enough given the nature of the contents of the crates. To resolve most of these issues, we've added specific ways for PvP and PvE players to fetch a specific room and obtain desired items.

For players who want to equip themselves for Galactic Command, working through Third Parties can be annoying if the rewards don't change. You can get the same belt at rank 70 that you would get at rank 1, which can be frustrating when trying to complete your set bonus.

With the launch of 5.2, the reward rates for higher quality items (Legendary and Artifact) will have a higher reward rate as you move up through the ranks of the same Third Party, along with the reward rates for Lower quality items (Superior and Prototype) will have lower rates. This means that you are encouraged to continue increasing your command rank while the rates of the most desired items will have a higher rate as the rank increases.

Let's look with Tiers 2 and 3 as an example. Here is a current approximation of the reward rates for a third overall:

    • Superior (Green): high chances.
    • Prototype (Blue): medium chances.
    • Artifact (Violet): low chance.
    • Legendary (Gold): Very low chance.

After 5.2, equipment rates will be better as you progress through Tiers.

    • Superior (Green): no more chance to recover.
    • Prototype (Blue): medium-low chances.
    • Artifact (Purple): Medium-high chance.
    • Legendary (Gold): medium chance.

As you can see from these examples, after 5.2 you will be able to obtain higher quality items for your character more regularly as you progress through the Thirds. It will also help to resolve questions about the difficulties in obtaining set bonuses with Command Crates (in addition to the changes to the op bosses that we are setting up at the same time - our translation here). Keep in mind that these rate changes are applied to Tiers 1, 2, 3. Tiers 4 works somewhat differently as you will notice in this forum post (our translation here).

Here are the changes that we will put in place for the galactic command in 5.2. Let us know what you think.

Small tip, these changes will be retroactive. So if you keep Command Crates, they will get the new attribution rates after the server rollback in 5.2.
