WoW - How Garrisons Work

WoW - How Garrisons Work

The stronghold is unlocked very quickly after entering the Tanaan Jungle. It can be found in Shadowmoon Valley (Alliance) or Frostfire Ridge (Horde). It's a kind of housing, but you shouldn't expect to have a house that you can decorate like in other games on the market. If you absolutely want to compare, it would be better to see a light version of Warcraft!

This large instantiated area is linked to our character (although it is possible to visit the strongholds of our friends). The commerce channel is accessible from this area, as well as many services, depending for some of the buildings. The stronghold evolves through 3 levels with increasingly heroic appearance. The functionality in itself can be reduced to buildings (of 3 types: small, medium and large and which also have 3 levels), to subjects (NPCs who will live in our fortress and render us various services while progressing in equipment and levels) and missions (accomplished by subjects).

In addition, by advancing in the quests of the zones, one reaches outposts, one in each zone, offering various bonuses in the zone in question as well as specific subjects.

Buildings

It is possible to put more buildings as our stronghold increases in levels:

  • Stronghold level 1 : 1 small - 1 large
  • Stronghold level 2 : 2 small - 1 medium - 1 large + unlock 3 of the 4 special buildings
  • Stronghold level 3 : 3 small - 2 medium - 2 large + unlock the last special building

WoW - How Garrisons Work

There are different quests or achievements to achieve to access buildings and then increase them:

  • Level 1 blueprints are all unlocked when the Garrison reaches level 2.
  • Level 2 plans are unlocked by fulfilling the following conditions:
    • Small Buildings: Reach level 96 or complete the Talador area.
    • Medium Buildings: Reach level 98 or complete the Spiers of Arak area.
    • Large Buildings: Reach level 100 or complete the Nagrand area.
  • Access to level 3 blueprints is conditioned by obtaining certain achievements in Draenor.
  • Level 3 plans are linked to the account. As soon as you unlock one, all the characters in your account can therefore have access to it.

If you complete quests, you will get blue items, Outpost Building Assembly Notes, or Outpost Building Detailed Guide. These items can be traded in merchants in the capitals of Ashran to obtain level 2 blueprints. Think about it. It will save you gold coins!

Missions

Missions are like quests that can be completed by subjects. The missions are of varying difficulty, duration and objectives. To maximize the effectiveness (and therefore the reward), it is necessary to match the prerequisites of the mission with the capacities of the right subjects. Mission thirds depend on the subjects' equipment:

  • Tier 1: <iLvl 615
  • Tier 2: from 615
  • Tiers 3: from 630 (with missions giving 645 for our character)
  • Tiers 4: from 645. This mission third rarely appears with raid missions for subjects giving raid items higher quality than what we get in our normal progression.

Only 20 subjects can be sent on missions simultaneously. Note that a subject can bring up to 250 gold per day on a mission.

WoW - How Garrisons Work

Here are some examples of rewards:

  • new topics
  • equipment for subjects
  • armor or armor upgrades
  • gold or fiefdom resources
  • Halaa's Battle Token / Halaa's Research Token for your talbuk
  • toys

The experience gained depends on the subject's level in relation to the mission:

  • Subject 1 or 2 levels below mission level: if the subject's level is orange, they will only gain 50% of mission experience and bonus experience.
  • Subject 3 or more levels below mission level: If the subject's level is red, they will only receive 10% of mission experience and bonus experience.
